Internship — Public Health Programme Support
ECSA-HC invites applications from recent graduates and postgraduate students in public health, epidemiology, or related disciplines to support programme activities across health systems strengthening, disease surveillance, and regional health policy development.
The Programme
The East, Central, and Southern African Health Community (ECSA-HC) is an intergovernmental health organization that fosters and promotes regional cooperation in health among its nine member states: Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Eswatini, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The ECSA-HC Internship Programme provides an opportunity for young professionals to gain hands-on experience in an international health organization, contributing to real projects that impact public health across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and implementation of regional health programme activities including workshops, training sessions, and technical meetings
- Assist in the collection, analysis, and presentation of health data from member states
- Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, policy briefs, and programme documentation
- Support coordination with member state ministries of health and partner organizations
- Assist in monitoring and evaluation of ongoing health programmes
- Participate in research activities related to health systems strengthening in the ECSA region
Who Can Apply
- Recent graduate or current postgraduate student in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Policy, Biostatistics, or a related discipline
- Strong academic record with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from a recognized institution
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; experience with data analysis tools (SPSS, Stata, R) is an advantage
- Nationals of ECSA-HC member states will be given preference
- Must not have previously participated in an ECSA-HC internship programme
- Must be between 21 and 30 years of age at the time of application
