Brazzaville/Arusha, 22 December 2025 — Today World Health Organization (WHO)'s Regional Office for Africa (AFRO) and the East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in advancing health outcomes and resilient health systems across the region.

The MoU formalises the longstanding partnership between the two organisations and establishes a framework for joint action on priority health areas including health systems strengthening, disease surveillance, health workforce development, and universal health coverage.

The signing ceremony underscores both organisations' commitment to leveraging their respective mandates and comparative advantages to address the health challenges facing the East, Central and Southern Africa region.
